Description: | Dissertation investigates issues of the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) data transmitting over mobile communication networks assurance. The object of this research are wireless channels of the AMI systems to be built with the GSM/GPRS and HSDPA cellular networks between smart e-meters and central server systems, their data transfer characteristics monitoring and parameters assurance.
The purpose of this dissertation is to develop suitable methodologies and tools in order to monitor and assure quality of service of the wireless data transmitting in Lithuanian AMI systems. Therefore the main work tasks are:
- To analyze the most important AMI system requirements related to the characteristics of the wireless data transfer process, such as data amounts, transfer rates and delays.
- To investigate performance of the GSM/GPRS networks in marginal high load and low signal level conditions by modeling and performing field tests.
- To analyze and suggest methodologies and tools which could be used in order to measure QoS parameters of the wireless access data transfer networks in AMI environment.
- To analyze possible methods of the mobile communication data transfer quality assurance.
Dissertation consists of the introduction, 4 chapters, conclusions and refer-ences.
Introduction presents the investigated problem, importance of the thesis and the object of research, describes the purpose and tasks, research methodology, scientific novelty, the practical significance of results and statements defended.
The first chapter revises related scientific researches and an introduction to the analysis of the mobile communication data transmitting characteristics.
In the second chapter analysis of the AMI metering points as a data sources and amounts as well as characteristics of the metering data are presented.
In the third chapter the algorithm for the software tool to be created in order to evaluate the wireless networks are analyzed and presented.
In the fourth chapter field tests at the AMI system pilot object are conducted and investigations on the methodology and algorithms for the assurance of the wireless data transmitting in AMI systems are presented.
There are 6 articles focusing on the subject of the dissertation published: 4 articles in journals with the citations index, 2 articles – in other journals. Seven presentations have also been given by author in conferences at national and international level on the subject of the work. |
