Abstract: In this study analysis of energy consumption for space heating in 2006-2007 of more than 3000 residential buildings located in Vilnius (Lithuania) has been performed. These data were offered by heat supplier and they are based on commercial data used for bills. The aim of the analysis was to define balance temperatures for the residential buildings of different year of construction, when buildings according to the period of construction were divided to 8 groups. The analysis has proved that there is need to use at least two different balance temperatures for residential buildings built before 2001 and after 2001.
